My oils, easel, ect. did make it here about two weeks ago. I wasted no time in procuring a stretcher and prepped a canvas for my first painting. This has been an interesting process as I have not seen my unsuspecting model since I received my paints. The model for the piece is a little girl who lives across the street from us. Because I have not had the chance to get sketches and photos of her, I have been working the environment of the painting with a squiggled form holding the figure's place. I can vouch for my improvement in understanding the background and setting. The numerous ink works and this reverse approach to this painting have made quite the difference. So I have a progress photo of the painting but it is a bit boring. That at least is the opinion of an artist who prefers figures over objects.
