I paint slow. That is a fact. I mull over concepts, make sketches, stare, reorganize, research masters, and some where in-between I paint a little at a time. That has made this piece hard because I have a deadline and there is a very methodical order that this mixed media had to be built in. She has been retitled "Mortality of the Inferno." In my next post I will give a more complete artist statement. For now I just want to say that having an ashen and less crisp skin tone was important to this piece. While painting her I literally felt like she went from a blur of ashen color to a strong flesh. Below is the first picture. 4:30am seamed a good time to call it quits till tomorrow. Good night my creations.
